Over 50 years as a player, coach, and official who helped pioneer lacrosse in Southwest Florida.
Biography
Richie Davidson was introduced to lacrosse at age 14 on Long Island, and he has never stopped being involved with the sport he loves. Over more than 50 years as a player, coach, and official, he has dedicated himself to growing the game at every level.
Career Highlights
- Team captain at Bay Shore High School (freshman and varsity)
- All-League honors; school all-time leader in goals and points
- Competed in two NJCAA Championship games at Farmingdale College
- Represented men's travel team at the World Lacrosse Games in London, Ontario
- Founded first boys club lacrosse team at Bishop Verot High School
- Head coach, Fort Myers High School boys club team
- Founded South Gulf Gators / Swamp Hogs — first boys travel team in the area
- Six years with Game Breakers Lacrosse Camp
- Member, High School All-American Awards selection committee (Fort Myers / Naples area)
- Co-founder, South Gulf Lacrosse Officials Association
- Held every leadership role in SGLOA: President, VP, Member at Large, Assigner, Head Trainer, Recruiter, Rules Committee
- Seven-time selection to officiate Florida State semifinal and final playoff games
- NILOA-certified men's college official for 12 years
